Well, here I am at 25 weeks. I went in for my 25 week check up this morning and wanted to provide an update on where things stand.
How’s Baby?
Baby is doing great. Measuring up to par in all the right places. Baby is big as a cauliflower today. Heartbeat was strong on the doppler (133 I believe it was?). Sadly I didn’t get to see her on the ultrasound, but I’m going to book a private 3D one at 29 weeks so I can see her facial features and everything in detail.
How’s Mom?
Appetite: Still voracious, especially in the morning. I’ve noticed I get full much quicker than before and can’t eat as big a meal. I am trying my best to eat a well-balanced diet, but every now and then I give in to my sweet tooth cravings.
Sleep: It’s been pretty consistent, still waking up pretty early around 5ish (mainly to feed my dog). There’s been some recent arson in the neighborhood that’s spiked my cortisol at nighttime when I hear fire trucks. Other than that, pretty smooth sailing. Having lots of vivid dreams–many involving in elementary school settings. Weird.
Worry: Not so much worry for myself or for baby because everything is checking out well and healthy. More worried about my dog and how she will adapt to a newborn/little human sister. I’ve given her my undivided attention every day for 11 years now. I pray she will adapt just fine. I’ve also been feeling guilty about random things lately. You can read more about that here.
Fatigue: Energized compared to how tired I was the first 6-9 weeks of pregnancy. I did notice this past week I was operating at a 5 energy-wise. Even took a couple naps this week which is unusual for me. Nothing like a mid-day siesta!
Food Cravings: Nothing really in particular food-wise. Still loving all the carbs. I have been all about matcha lattes lately though, iced or hot.
Comfort: Belly is growing bigger so I can’t scrunch my body as easily when bending down or what not. I can’t imagine what it will be like at 30+ weeks! I’ve been very fortunate to not have experienced anything too uncomfortable yet (no swelling or heartburn). EXCEPT I’ve been cursed with tailbone pain, particularly this week. Sharp shoots of lightning pain when I get up from bed or from sitting down for long periods of time. Thank god for this orthopedic donut..it’s been a life savior!
Exercise: Not much has changed in this department since my last update (read about that here). Getting my daily walks in but still not finding any motivation to work out. Ugh.
Best Moments: Feeling baby move. Finally having a bump that doesn’t look questionable haha.
Living In: My new Zella maternity leggings, Aerie oversized boyfriend tees, and Babydoll dresses if I want to look cute.
Next Up: Glucose screening. I have decided to take the alternative route and do at-home glucose test with finger pricks versus the medicated sugary drink. I will write a separate blog post on why I am choosing this route and my experience in a couple weeks, so stay tuned!
